3D Print Magnet & Nut Insertion Pause Planner
Plan the moment to place an insert before its cavity closes. Check dimensions, account for the first layer, and combine inserts that share the same pause.

Is the pause before or after the displayed layer?
The planner always means before the displayed closing layer. The result also states the previous completed Z. Check how your slicer names and inserts pauses; do not assume that another interface uses the same numbering.
What if the first layer is thicker?
For uniform later layers, layer n has top Z = first-layer height + (n − 1) × regular height. Dividing the target Z by regular height alone can select the wrong layer.
Can I use adaptive layer height?
Not with the uniform formula in this version. The tool refuses that input rather than inventing a layer number. Use the actual slicer layer list and inspect the first closing extrusion.
Can a magnet stick up slightly?
A protruding insert can interfere with travel or the closing extrusion. The planner flags an insert top above the last completed layer. Confirm seating and the toolpath in the actual sliced model.
Does this change my G-code?
No. It produces measurements and a checklist. Add a supported pause inside your slicer, verify its preview and test the printer’s resume behavior.
Are the example clearances recommended for every printer?
No. They are editable example dimensions. Print a fit coupon with the actual material, orientation and insert. Shape, shrinkage and printer calibration can change the necessary gap.
